Arabella, Enon and Leatherwood wines served exclusively during an evening with President Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton appeared in Lexington, KY

I experienced a moment of immense pride to see our De Wet Family Wines beautifully displayed on every dinner table in a room serving 501 distinguished guests. One of which happened to be William Jefferson Clinton, 42nd president of the United States. Projected onto large screens on every wall in the room, were the logos of the evening sponsors: Arabella, Leatherwood and Enon rolled through once every 2 minutes for the entire evening along with other “mighty” sponsors. My chest swelled even more when I remembered that access to this prestigious event set every guest back $500.00/plate. Those in attendance were from the social elite only; from Fortune 500 families, movie stars, sports celebrities to influential politicians… and me….

On August 13th, the Lexington Hearing and Speech Center celebrated its 50th anniversary and kicked off its annual fundraising campaign to raise funds for a new school to children who are hearing and speech impaired. A project that requires $3.5m to complete. Pres Clinton had toured the school facilities earlier that day and during an inspirational speech which never took on a political stance, managed to inspire everyone in the room to get involved. By the end of the evening total pledges amounted to almost $2m!…and amidst all the grandeur and excitement of philanthropy at its highest level of inspiration, everyone was sipping on a glass of De Wet Family Wine from tiny Robertson Valley, South Africa.

We received so many wonderful compliments on the wines and this event provided great exposure to our brand names. The wines are well placed in the most prominent retail stores in 20 states across the USA. With our status as Official wine for the Alltech World Equestrian Games (starting September 25th) and expecting attendance figures of over 600,000 visitors, we’ve embarked on a huge marketing campaign to promote the brands and the Clinton event was another unique opportunity to get the labels in the forefront of everyone’s mind.
